The Flushing YMCA is a branch of the YMCA of Greater New York, which was founded in 1852 as the second YMCA in the United States. In 1920, 30 YMCA members met to discuss how the organization could reach out to the 100,000 residents of Bayside, Douglaston, College Point, Flushing and Whitestone. The result was the establishment of the Flushing YMCA, which was built in 1925 and remains the cornerstone of the Flushing community. With 270 staff supported by 300 volunteers, the Flushing YMCA serves more than 15,000 young people between the ages of 1-17.
